6/26/2023 0 Comments New dogmanMy mom had woken up and gotten off the couch to look with me and also saw it. This thing was something that stuck in my mind and still does to this day. It was only visible for a few seconds but clear as day. I didn't see its eyes but I did see an easily 6 or 7 foot in length canine. I'll never forget what I saw and I never would have contacted anyone about it until I recently read a few reports of a supposed "dogman." I remember looking out the window while my mother was asleep and seeing what I at first thought was someone else's dog or a coyote. We had even witnessed 2 bears in our time there.īut I'll never forget the night our dog "Lucky" went completely ballistic barking at something or someone outside on or near our front porch. Anyway there was a wooded area close by, if not everywhere. The local wildlife was very diverse and is something I would no longer be used to as I live in Pittsburgh now. I remember hearing bobcat screams in the woods behind our house all the time. This had to have been on a weekend or a school holiday break because we were both home at the time. My father worked on the road for a construction job, so at the time it was just my mother and I, she worked at the Perma Grain Product factory in town. I can't remember the street name, of course, because it has been so long, but we lived before a bend that led down to the headquarters of a company that had big rig trucks parked there. We lived down the street from Benton's Market. PIG-LIKE HUMANOID ON APPALACHIAN TRAIL / WEREWOLF ENCOUNTER / GARGOYLE - Lon Strickler (Host)

The diverse sources in which these leaders and thinkers immersed themselves included Buddhist literature, the Bhagavad Gita, Sanskrit poetry, the edicts of Emperor Ashoka, and the artistic and architectural achievements of the Mughal Empire. Ambedkar-Vajpeyi looks at how each of them turned to classical texts in order to fashion an original sense of Indian selfhood. Taking five of the most important founding figures-Mohandas Gandhi, Rabindranath Tagore, Abanindranath Tagore, Jawaharlal Nehru, and B.R. In Righteous Republic, Ananya Vajpeyi furnishes this missing account, a ground-breaking assessment of modern Indian political thought. Less well-known is how India’s own rich knowledge traditions of two and a half thousand years influenced these men as they set about constructing a nation in the wake of the Raj. What India’s founders derived from Western political traditions as they struggled to free their country from colonial rule is widely understood. On PBS’s Global Perspectives, watch Ananya Vajpeyi discuss the founding fathers of the world’s largest democracy: 6/25/2023 0 Comments Sweet on You by Becky Wade"Wade's pleasing finale to the Bradford Sisters series follows Britt, the youngest sister. When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she's always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter. Soon, she is risking everything-her family, her future-to be with him. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland's inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthralls her. Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell. Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair.įifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn't believe in love stories or happy endings. Her final step was to integrate steam with the ‘art of flying’.” ¹ She decided what equipment she would need for example, a compass, to “cut across the country by the most direct road” so that she could surmount mountains, rivers, and valleys. She decided to write a book, Flyology, illustrating, with plates, some of her findings. She examined the anatomy of birds to determine the right proportion between the wings and the body. She considered various materials for the wings: paper, oil silk, wires, and feathers. She investigated different material and sizes. Her first step, in February 1828, was to construct wings. “Ada Byron went about the project methodically, thoughtfully, with imagination and passion. By the age of twelve, she wanted to fly, but like other twelve-year-olds, her’s was not just wishful thinking but a scientific quest. Augusta Ada King, Countess of Lovelace was born on December 1815, to Lord and Lady Byron in London. 6/24/2023 0 Comments Viscount slim defeat into victoryWeaving together “eyewitness detail and a fine sense of drama” (Boston Globe) to form an epic of remarkable originality, Alone movingly captures a moment of historic triumph-when an unlikely flotilla of destroyers brought 300,000 men home to safety. Against this vast canvas, best-selling author Michael Korda relates his own personal story, “by turns charming, powerful and poignant” (Minneapolis Star Tribune): that of a six-year-old boy from a glamorous movie family who would himself be evacuated. As dramatized in Christopher Nolan’s film Dunkirk, May 1940 was a month like no other: Germany’s war machine blazed into France, the impregnable Maginot Line crumbled, and Winston Churchill replaced Neville Chamberlain as prime minister as Britain, isolated and alone, faced a triumphant Nazi Germany. No one can evince the drama of what actually happened at Dunkirk in the year 1940 with as “great narrative skill and superb delineation” (David McCullough) as Michael Korda, the historian and legendary book editor. One of the most miraculous military rescue missions in modern history comes alive in this “superb and panoramic” (Washington Post) account of Dunkirk. 6/24/2023 0 Comments Napoleon a life by andrew robertsBy AUTHOR Jane Austen Eric Carle Lewis Carroll Roald Dahl Charles Dickens Sydney Hanson C.Indestructubles Little Golden Books Magic School Bus Magic Tree House Pete the Cat Step Into Reading Book The Hunger Games By POPULAR SERIES Chronicles of Narnia Curious Geoge Diary of a Wimpy Kid Fancy Nancy Harry Potter I Survived If You Give.By TOPIC Award Winning Books African American Children's Books Biography & Autobiography Books for Boys Books for Girls Diversity & Inclusion Foreign Language & Bilingual Books Hispanic & Latino Children's Books Holidays & Celebrations Holocaust Books Juvenile Nonfiction Native American Books New York Times Bestsellers Professional Development Reference Books Test Prep.By GRADE Elementary School Middle School High Schoolīy AGE Board Books (newborn to age 3) Early Childhood Readers (ages 4-8) Children's Picture Books (ages 3-8) Juvenile Fiction (ages 8-12) Young Adult Fiction (ages 12+). And yet he held uncertainty at the center of his intellectual and creative life. One of the most celebrated minds of the past century, Feynman was a champion of scientific knowledge so effective and so beloved that he has generated an entire canon of personal mythology. In his taxonomy of the two types of geniuses, probability theory pioneer Mark Kac distinguishes between “ordinary geniuses” and “magicians,” pointing to Richard Feynman (May 11, 1918–February 15, 1988) as a rare example of the latter. |
